What to Bring in your Curly Hair Care Travel Set

11:46 AM
Having curly hair can be quite challenging. It often requires many tools and products to make it look great and stay healthy. This can be challenging when you’re on the road, especially when you have to fly. You probably don’t have enough room in your suitcase to pack all the bottles, and you can’t bring them through security either. Continue reading for information on what to include in your curly hair care travel set.

Minimal Cleanser

One of the perks of having curly hair is that it needs to be washed a lot less often than straight hair. If your hair is thick, you can usually go three or more days without washing. Those with fine hair should wash every other day. Experts recommend a sulfate-free formula to prevent curls from drying out. It is also important to pair your shampoo with a cleansing conditioner to maintain moisture. This is especially important toward the bottom half of your hair, where it gets driest because it doesn't receive the scalp’s natural oils.

Leave-Ins and Gels

You may also want to pack a travel-sized leave-in conditioner. This can be touchy because a heavy leave-in conditioner can weigh down your hair, and your curls won’t look as great as they could. If you have soft curls, experts recommend using a spray. Those with medium and big curls may have more success with a thicker gel. Finally, if you have crimpy coils, you probably want to use a dense cream. Thankfully, all of these products can be found in a size that the TSA accepts. Otherwise, buy some empty bottles, and pour your favorites in.

Hair Spray

Lastly, you need those curls to stay where they are to hold that style that took you so much time this morning. Find a product that doesn’t make your hair feel crunchy or sticky. Mousse or foam can be used in the same way as hairspray, if you are more comfortable with the hold and texture of these products. This may be safer since you can’t take aerosols through airport security. Be sure when you pack your curly hair care travel set that your bottles are all the right size and are packed tightly to avoid leakage.
