In an effort to strengthen the youth's participation in nation building, the Department of Social Welfare and Development opened summer jobs for them. The program further aims to expose the youth to government service, train them on life skills and contribute to their economic well-being.
The program is open to all students, college graduates and graduates of vocational courses who are unemployed as well as to out-of-school youths who would want to take part in nation-building. Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years old and may go to the nearest DSWD office nationwide to submit their applications together with a photocopy of their birth certificates.
After orientation, hired applicants may be able to start work immediately and has to complete 52 days of work. It means that deployment will not be simultaneous around the country as long as they can complete the 52 days.
Qualified applicants can be assigned in the central office, or in the various field offices including centers/institutions. They are expected to work not only in actual office but also in the community where they will participate in the implementation of different programs of the DSWD.
90,865 youths will be hired this summer nationwide with a budget allocation of more than P1.3 billion. The interns admitted into the program shall be provided with stipend commensurate to the applicable minimum wage in the region.
